Itinerary
- Day 1: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree Camp) — Begin your journey through lush rainforest with possible sightings of colobus monkeys. Trek time: 3-4 hours.
- Day 2: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp — Trek through moorland, gaining your first panoramic views of the mountain. Trek time: 5-6 hours.
- Day 3: Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp — Cross the Shira Plateau, a high-altitude desert. Acclimatization starts here. Trek time: 4-5 hours.
- Day 4: Shira 2 to Moir Hut — A lesser-used camp offering solitude and great views. Optional hike to the Lent Hills in the afternoon. Trek time: 5-7 hours.
- Day 5: Moir Hut to Buffalo Camp via Lava Tower — Acclimatization day with a high ascent to Lava Tower (4,600m) followed by descent to Buffalo Camp. Trek time: 7-8 hours.
- Day 6: Buffalo Camp to Third Cave — Continue along the northern slopes of Kilimanjaro with sweeping views over Kenya’s Amboseli plains. Trek time: 5-6 hours.
- Day 7: Third Cave to School Hut — A steady climb preparing for summit night. Arrive early and rest. Trek time: 4-5 hours.
- Day 8: Summit Attempt: School Hut to Uhuru Peak, then descend to Mweka Camp — Begin around midnight. Reach Stella Point at sunrise, then Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Descend to Mweka Camp. Trek time: 12–14 hours.
- Day 9: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate — Final descent through the rainforest to receive your summit certificates. Trek time: 3–4 hours.
